Better late than never.. here are some photos from the Austin Fashion Week Kickoff party at Speakeasy this past Friday (4/10/15) !!
Enjoy the photos :)
I love that the fashion community was able to come together to kick off this exciting week in Austin, TX.
There were 10 stylists chosen to style each decade of the 20th century. I styled the 1930's look and absolutely loved running around Austin vintage boutiques to find the perfect look. It was a bit stressful.. not going to lie. I am always thinking that if I find something there might be something better somewhere else. I put a bunch of outfits on hold at different places and then the day before the event I decided to stop by Austin Antique Mall to visit Connie Day of Victorian Closet to check out her amazing vintage dresses. I fell in love with a few and finally chose to use a 1930s metallic threaded dress with a little bit of loose fit and drop waist. It fit my model Thuraya perfectly so I went with it!
I am a total hat fanatic - especially vintage - so I styled it with the perfect large navy brim and bow vintage hat that definitely helped to define the 30's look. I paired the dress with a navy slip underneath to help make the look more cohesive.
Lastly.. after meeting Suzie of Suzanna Dai at a blogger/designer event, I decided to use her gorgeous jewelry to finish the look. All her jewelry is stunning and vintage inspired - not to mention she has a killer eye for vintage gems - so it was all together exactly the look I was imagining. I chose these gorgeous earrings and chain link bracelet cuff to create a vintage yet modern vibe.
So happy about the way it all turned out and so excited to have met so many amazing, creative, and talented people in the fashion industry with a common love of style.
